The Best of Farmers Markets in Northumberland County
Summer is here and the season which there are Farmers Markets are aplenty.
Markets have grown over the years to offer so much variety. Campbellford, Port Perry, Peterborough & Cobourg are my favorites, however, I have not visited all of them as yet.
Luckily we also have a few that operate during the week, giving you even more opportunity to get there if you happen to be busy on the weekend.
And honestly – now more than ever we should be supporting the farmers and local growers in our area. Personally, I would rather support the local farmer than the greedy grocery store owners who are making record profits – while most farmers are not making much more than they did before the pandemic.
Besides, a tomato, pepper or strawberry fresh from the garden of a local farmer tastes entirely different than what you purchase in the store.
Farmers Market feature more than just produce – cheese, honey, herbs, homemade confections, flowers, plants, meats etc.
Later this summer I will also publish local lists of Farm to Table producers – meaning – farms you can contact or go direct to and purchase directly from them – for those that don’t attend the Farmers Markets or for those Farms that don’t go to the Farmers Market. Many farms have their own Farm Stands or Farm Stores right on the Farm Property – look for those lists coming soon!
In the meantime, get out there to one of the Local Farmers Markets – they will appreciate it but you will even more!!
See you around Town!
