Estate Sales
Estate Sale Properties in Ontario
Estate-sale homes — sold by the estate, often with less competition
An estate sale is a home being sold by the estate of someone who has passed away or is settling their affairs — handled by an executor, and usually sold as-is. Nothing on the MLS marks a listing as an estate sale for the public, so they're easy to miss. Christine digs them out and keeps this list current.
What is an estate sale?
It's a home being sold by the estate of someone who has passed away or is settling their affairs, usually through an executor or a Power of Attorney, and often sold as-is.
These sales are NOT power of sales or foreclosure — those happen when a mortgage is in default.
Why buy an estate-sale home?
They often offer what newer homes can't — real character and craftsmanship, larger lots, mature trees and established neighbourhoods. They draw less competition too, and executors are motivated to settle. We share the background on each so you know what you're taking on.
Where are they, and how do I keep up?
Estate sales come up right across Ontario — we keep curated lists for Peterborough, Northumberland (Cobourg, Port Hope), Durham Region (Port Perry, Scugog, Uxbridge), Kawartha Lakes and Georgina. The list below shows every estate-sale home currently for sale — or ask us to keep you posted as new ones come up daily.
